1 - Question to ponder:
Self Image
I smoked a pack of cigarettes every day since I was 17 years old until the day I had a stroke in May of 2014. This was the day I forever became a Non-Smoker.
I remember the moment it happened. I was laying in the ER with wires and tubes connected everywhere. Beeps, chirps and buzzes were emitted by the alien looking medical machines. I was scared, very scared.
A young doctor stood above me explaining my condition: blood pressure through the roof, potassium levels through the basement, dehydrated and unstable. He must have noticed the cigarette smell on my breath and clothes and simply said:
"You are no longer a smoker"
And in that moment
I began to think of myself
as a Non-Smoker.
When I identified as a Smoker I did what all smokers do: you smoke, you have ashtrays that are filled and emptied, you go the the store to buy your smokes, you bum cigarettes when you run out and you carry a lighter. Being a Smoker, I did what smoker's do.
Being a Non-Smoker I didn't do the things above, there was no reason to, because I now identified as a Non-Smokers. And I began doing things that Non-Smokers do instead. The cigarettes, lighters and ashtrays had not purpose any more in my life.
If you identify
yourself as being Fat, you will be no matter what you try. If you identify with being Shy, you will be and avoid strangers. If you identify as Lazy, you will be and do all of the things a Lazy person does.
It is very important to our subconscious that we behave in exactly the way we view ourselves. We will habitually, unconsciously, consciously and subconsciously repeat behaviors so that we fit our internal view of ourselves.
No matter what you try to change, the result will not be permanent until you change your
self image.
If you continue to think you are Fat, you will be; that is until you view yourself as a "Fit Person who needs a little work". As soon as you identify with the Fit Person persona, you will naturally do what a Fit Person does and will lose the weight.
Question for You -
What ADJECTIVES do you use to describe yourself?
And are they the ones you want, or are there
NEW/BETTER
words you will identify with?
